First IWUF Wushu Image Ambassador (2007–2025)
Jet Li
Jet Li is a renowned wushu athlete and internationally acclaimed film star. In 2007, during the 9th World Wushu Championships held in Beijing, he was appointed as the IWUF’s Wushu Image Ambassador. Over his 18-year tenure, he attended major international wushu events including the 2007 Beijing World Championships, the Beijing 2008 Wushu Tournament, the inaugural World Combat Games in 2010 in Beijing, the 2015 Jakarta World Championships, and the 2019 Shanghai World Championships. He also participated twice in wushu demonstration events at the United Nations Headquarters, in 2011 and 2017. Throughout his ambassadorship, Jet Li remained committed to promoting wushu globally and made lasting contributions to enhancing the sport’s international visibility. In October 2025, at the 10th World Kungfu Championships, he officially stepped down from the role. In recognition of his long-term dedication to Wushu promotion, the IWUF conferred upon him the title of “Lifelong Volunteer for Wushu Promotion, No. 001.”
