On August 23, 2024, the IWUF Athletes’ Committee convened successfully in Singapore, marking the first full meeting of the newly appointed Athletes’ Committee for the 2023-2027 term.
During the session, Lai Xiaoxiao of China was unanimously elected as Chair of the IWUF Athletes’ Committee and nominated to represent the committee on the IWUF Executive Board. In line with Articles 23.2 and 23.7 of the IWUF Constitution, Lai Xiaoxiao has officially become a member of the Executive Board.
The meeting also included in-depth discussions on key topics such as enhancing and refining the IWUF Athlete of the Year selection process and promoting athlete development.
The meeting was chaired by IWUF Secretary General Zhang Qiuping, who extended sincere greetings to all members on behalf of IWUF President Gao Zhidan. Zhang underscored the vital role of the Athletes’ Committee as a bridge between the IWUF and the global athlete community, emphasizing its responsibility to advocate for athletes’ rights, amplify their voices, and support their growth. He encouraged all members to continue fulfilling this important role, fostering communication and collaboration to drive the prosperity and development of wushu worldwide.
