2025 IWUF 10th Sanda World Cup Opens in Jiangyin, China!

On the afternoon of April 6, 2025 the IWUF 10th Sanda World Cup kicked off at Hailan Pegasus Water City in Jiangyin, China!

Zhang Yuping, Director of the Wushu Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, Director of the Organizing Committee of the IWUF 10th Sanda World Cup, Secretary General of the IWUF, was joined by Vice Presidents of the IWUF Anthony Goh, Sherif Mostafa, Weng Kit Chan, and Patrick Van Campenhout, Executive Committee members Sunny Tang, Kim Fatt Chong, Stefan Kolev, Petar Turkovic, Marcus Alves, and Lai Xiaoxiao, Honorary Vice President Liu Ruiqi, Deputy Director of the Wushu Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, Deputy Chairman of the Chinese Wushu Association and Deputy Secretary General of the IWUF, Chen Chong, Deputy Director of Wushu Sports Management Center of General Administration of Sport of China, Director of IWUF Technical Committee, Li Yongqiang, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Sports Bureau, Liu Tong, Vice Mayor of Wuxi Municipal People's Government, Qin Yongxin, Vice Chairman of China Wushu Association, and founder of Hailan Group, Zhou Jianping. Chen Yi, Director of Wuxi Municipal Sports Bureau, Yang Yuhua, Secretary of Wuxi Municipal Sports Bureau CPC Group, Vice Director of Wuxi Municipal Sports Bureau, were also present at the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony was divided into two parts: sports ceremony and cultural performance. Director Zhang Yuping announced the opening of 2025 IWUF 10th Wushu Sanda World Cup. Vice President Anthony Goh, Deputy Director Liu Tong, and Vice Mayor Qin Yongxin delivered speeches respectively. Athlete representatives Michael Woodward and Zhu Hailan, and judge representatives Sergio Aguero and Joanna Skamla took the oath respectively. The opening ceremony was presided over by Jin Danjing, Vice Mayor of Jiangyin Municipal People's Government.

The Sanda World Cup is a top-level sanda event hosted by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF). Since its inaugural edition in Shanghai, China in 2002, the event has been held biennially, and has become an international stage for showcasing the highest level of competition in the global sanda sport.

The 10th Sanda World Cup will be held from April 6-10, 2025, in Jiangyin, China. This year's event attracts nearly 170 athletes and team officials from 26 countries and regions. There are 18 weight categories for men and women and 18 gold medals are expected to be awarded.

In the next three days, elite wushu sanda athletes from various countries and regions will compete fiercely in the Jiangyin Pegasus Water Town Cultural and Sports Center, China, to spread love and friendship through wushu, and to share the power and elegance of sanda!
