On April 8, the 2025 IWUF Wushu Taolu Coaches Training Program officially commenced at the Flying Horse Water City Precious Horse Hall in Jiangyin, China, attracting over 50 wushu taolu coaches from 31 countries and regions to participate.
IWUF Secretary General, Director of the Wushu Sports Management Center of General Administration of Sport of China, and President of the Wushu Research Institute Ms. Zhang Yuping; Vice President of the Chinese Wushu Association, Chairman of the Jiangsu Wushu Association, and Founder of Hailan Group Mr. Zhou Jianping; IWUF Technical Committee Vice Chair Ms. Lu Xiaolin and Mr. Shao Zhaoming, along with committee members Mr. Mohammadreza Pourgholaminejad, Mr. Rong Jun, and Mr. Esannaghi Abderrahmane, as well as expert instructors for this course attended this opening ceremony. IWUF Technical Committee Chair, Deputy Director of the Wushu Sports Management Center of General Administration of Sport of China, and Vice President of the Wushu Research Institute Li Yongqiang hosted this ceremony.
Through the intensive and systematic training for the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games (YOG) wushu taolu competition events, this course is designed to strengthen the coaching capabilities of global wushu taolu coaches and cultivate more excellent talent for the YOG wushu competition.
At the opening ceremony, Ms. Zhang emphasized the following key points. First, focus on the Youth Olympic standards, strictly align with the Olympic competition rules, and deepen the understanding of the wushu taolu competition rules and judging method to ensure precise integration between teaching and judging practices. Second, uphold the technical standardization of wushu while cultivating athletes' competitive performance and wushu spirit, preserving its essence. Third, to encourage all coaches to take full advantage of this opportunity to share teaching experiences and collectively elevate the global standard of wushu instruction. Fourth, prioritize wushu's ethical education. Embed traditional virtues into competitive training and exemplify integrity for the next generation of athletes.
On behalf of the organizer of this training course, Vice Chairman Zhou extended the warmest welcome to wushu coaches worldwide. He stated that throughout the entire process of planning and hosting the event, it was meticulously organized to ensure smooth transitions and successful completion of all activities with efficient and professional organizational capabilities; thereby it will contribute to the global development of wushu.
This 5-day training course will provide in-depth training on the evaluation of quality of movement and overall performance, common errors as well as correction methods of changquan, gunshu, taijiquan and taijishan through theoretical lectures, technical training, discussion and interaction. It aims to optimize the training methods of wushu taolu, improve the teaching level, and help wushu athletes from various countries (regions) prepare for the Youth Olympic Games.
