9th WJWC Day 1: a total of 8 gold medals awarded, with China winning four golds and Ukraine winning the first gold medal of the event!

The 9th World Junior Wushu Championships in 2024 will be held from September 22nd to 30th in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. It is hosted by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) and organized by the Wushu Federation of Brunei Darussalam.

The World Junior Wushu Championships (WJWC) is a world championship pinnacle event that is hosted by the IWUF and features wushu’s junior athletes, boys and girls, competing every two years since 2006 in both taolu and sanda.  The WJWC is a unique opportunity to glimpse the future of the sport.

On the first day of the taolu competition, the following 8 events were held: Boy's Duilian A, Girl's Duilian A, Boy's Nanquan A, Boy's Nanquan B, Girl's Nanquan C, Boy's Changquan A, Boy's Changquan B, and Girl's Changquan B. A total of 8 gold medals were awarded.

Bohdan NAIDA, Volodymyr SHYNKARENKO, and Mykyta KOVALOV from Ukraine's team won the first gold medal in the taolu competition with a score of 9.243 in the Boy's Duilian A. Team China claimed 4 gold medals, with Wang Yanlin winning the Boy's Changquan A with a score of 9.300, Zhao Baihao winning the Boy's Changquan B with a score of 8.890, Wei Zhengyao winning the Girl's Changquan B gold medal with a score of 9.000, and Fang Zijian winning the Boy's Nanquan A gold medal with a score of 9.200. Team Hong Kong, China won two gold medals, with King Ham WANG, Cho Kiu TSANG, and Cheuk Yin CHUNG taking the Girl's Duilian A gold medal with a score of 9.116, and Ching Wan TANG winning the Girl's Nanquan C championship with a score of 8.563. Team Iran secured one gold medal, with Ramtin SIAHMOSHTEHEI winning the Boy's Nanquan B championship with a score of 8.780.

On the first day of the sanda competition, the following 10 events were held: Boy's 60kg - Junior, Boy's 65kg - Junior, Boy's 70kg - Junior, Boy's 75kg - Junior, Boy's 42kg - Children, Boy's 45kg - Children, Boy's 48kg - Junior, Boy's 52kg - Junior, Boy's 56kg - Junior, and Boy's 80kg - Junior.
