The 9th WJWC Day 2 witnessed another 14 Golds Awarded!

The 9th World Junior Wushu Championships are held from September 22nd to 30th in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. It is hosted by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) and organized by the Wushu Federation of Brunei Darussalam. The event has attracted 498 athletes from 50 countries and regions. 
 
The World Junior Wushu Championships (WJWC) is a world championship pinnacle event that is hosted by the IWUF and features wushu’s junior athletes, boys and girls, competing every two years since 2006 in both taolu and sanda. 
The WJWC is a unique opportunity to glimpse the future of the sport.

Medal Standings as of Sep 26th


As of September 26, the championship medal tally has reached a total of 22 gold medals, with Team China leading the pack, having secured 7 golds and 1 bronze. Following closely is the Hong Kong, China team, boasting 3 golds and 3 silvers, while Singapore stands third with 2 golds, 4 silvers, and 3 bronzes. The host nation, Brunei, has earned 2 golds and 2 silvers.Team Macao, China has 2 golds, 1 silver, and 3 bronzes; Iran has 2 golds, 1 silver, and 1 bronze; Malaysia has 1 gold, 5 silvers, and 3 bronzes; Indonesia has 1 gold, 3 silvers, and 5 bronzes; Team Chinese Taipei has 1 gold and 1 bronze; Ukraine has 1 gold; Japan has 1 silver; and Egypt has 1 bronze.

Overview of the Wushu Taolu Competitions

On the second competition day, 13 taolu events were held: Women's Changquan A, Women's Nanquan A, Men's Jianshu A, Women's Nanquan B, Men's Changquan C, Women's Changquan C, Men's Nanquan C, Men's Taijiquan A, Women's Taijiquan A, Men's Taijiquan B, Women's Taijiquan B, Men's Taijiquan B, Women's Taijiquan C, resulting in 14 gold medals awarded. Notably, teams from Macao, China, Chinese Taipei, Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia all celebrated their first golds of this event.

Team China dominated the day, clinching 3 golds: Li Miyin topped the Women's Changquan A with a score of 9.276, Hanguozhiyu won the Men's Taijiquan A with 9.266, and Xiong Yiran secured the Women's Taijiquan B gold with 8.946. The host nation, Brunei, garnered 2 golds through Samuel Yong Jun Ong and Meagan Marie Keasberry, who triumphed in the Men's and Women's Taijiquan C events with scores of 8.446 and 8.480, respectively.
The Macao, China team also achieved 2 golds, with UT Leng Cheung winning the Women's Nanquan A with 9.160 and Hou Ieng Cai taking the Women's Changquan C with 8.476. Singapore also earned 2 golds, with Xin Yun Chua winning the Men's Jianshu A with 9.180 and Irwyn Ying Kai Ng winning the Men's Nanquan C with 8.473.
The Hong Kong, China team, Chinese Taipei team, Malaysia team, Indonesia team, and Iran team each secured a gold medal. On Hang Lo from Hong Kong, China won the Men's Taijiquan B title with a score of 8.773, Yu Tzu Liu from Chinese Taipei claimed the Women's Taijiquan A with 9.193, and Malaysia's Pei Ler Tan tied with Macao, China's UT Leng Cheung for the Women's Nanquan A title with 9.160. Indonesia's Zivan Abimanyu Rasendria won the Men's Changquan C with 8.516.

Overview of the Wushu Sanda Competitions

On the second competition day of the sanda events, matches were held for 11 categories: Boys' Group Junior 56 kg, Boys' Group Junior 60 kg, Boys' Group Junior 65 kg, Boys' Group Children 42 kg, Boys' Group Children 45 kg, Boys' Group Children 52 kg, Girls' Group Junior 48 kg, Girls' Group Junior 52 kg, Girls' Group Junior 56 kg, Girls' Group Junior 60 kg, and Boys' Group Junior 75kg.

In this event, Turkey's Furkan CEBECI, India's Tanish NAGAR, Uzbekistan's Abdulkhamid ODILOV, Brazil's Vitor DA SILVA CASADO, China's Junjie FENG, Egypt's Youssef YEHYA SHAHAT AHMED, Tunisia's Adem GHALKAOUI, and South Korea's SANGHYUN JEON each defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of the competition.

Boys' Group Junior 60 kg1/8 finals


In this event, HEEJUN KANG of Korea, ANDY SHI of Macau, China, GUO Junbiao of China, Azizbek TURGUNBOEV of Uzbekistan, Nguyen TIEN DUY of Vietnam, Mokhnache HAMZA of Algeria, ABHIJIT BURAGOHAIN of India and Erik VIRABYAN of Armenia defeated their opponents and entered the next round of the event.
 

Boys' Group Junior 65 kg(1/8 finals)

In this event, Jinghua LIU of China, Sanjar ARTYKOV of Turkmenistan, JAEMIN BAE of Korea, Maulana Saddam RAUF of Indonesia, SALEH ABU KHATTAB of Jordan, Avazbek MAKHAMADJONOV of Uzbekistan, Marwan ESSAM MOHAMED MOHAMED KANDIL of Egypt, and Abolfazi ASADI of Iran defeated their opponents and managed to advance to the next round of the programme.

 
Boys' Group Children 42 kg(Quarter finals)

In this event, Yeraly TURSYNBAY of Kazakhstan, YUVRAJ of India, Chris WANNIS ATALLAH of Lebanon, and Mohamed REDA EL-SAYED MOHAMED of Egypt defeated their opponents and succeeded in advancing to the next round of the event.
 

Boys' Group Children 45 kg(Quarter finals)

Zhubanysh AKHANOV of Kazakhstan, Amirreza SALAR of Iran, Bagus Aditia SAKTI of Indonesia, and Shun Yat LEUNG of Hong Kong, China, defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of the event.
 

Boys' Group Children 52 kg(Quarter finals)

In this event, Kiemas Sakti NEGARA from Indonesia, Omar MOHAMED AHMED ABDEL MAQSOUD from Egypt, Samet CAF from Turkey, and Sam PANG from Macao, China, defeated their opponents and managed to advance to the next round of the event.

Girls' Group Junior 48 kg(1/8 finals)

In this event, DINDI NETHSARANI MANDALAWALLI ACHARIGE of Sri Lanka, WAI IN KU of Macao, China, and SIU Tip Rachel QIU of Hong Kong, China, defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of the event.

Girls' Group Junior 52 kg(1/8 finals)

In this program, Tunisia's YOSR JABRI defeated her opponent and managed to advance to the next round of the program.

Girls' Group Junior 56 kg(1/8 finals)

In this program, Brazil's Jamily PEREIRA SOARES defeated her opponent and advanced to the next round of the program.

Girls' Group Junior 60 kg(1/8 finals)

In this event, Nguyen THI HUONG QUYNH of Vietnam, Diana RAHIMI of Iran, DIVANSHI of India, and Nguyen THI HUONG QUYNH of Vietnam defeated their rivals and successfully advanced to the next round of the respective events.

Boys' Group Junior 75 kg(Semifinals)

In this event, CHI HIN FONG of Macao, China and Kerwen MUHAMMETOVEZOV of Turkmenistan defeated their opponents and advanced to the next round of the event.
