The 9th World Junior Wushu Championships are held from September 22nd to 30th in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. It is hosted by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) and organized by the Wushu Federation of Brunei Darussalam. The event has attracted 498 athletes from 50 countries and regions. 
 
The World Junior Wushu Championships (WJWC) is a world championship pinnacle event that is hosted by the IWUF and features wushu’s junior athletes, boys and girls, competing every two years since 2006 in both taolu and sanda.

Medal Standings as of Sep 27th


As of September 27th, the 9th World Junior Wushu Championships have awarded a total of 39 gold medals. Among them, China currently leads the pack with 9 gold medals and 1 bronze medal; Singapore follows closely in second place with 6 gold, 5 silver, and 3 bronze medals; Hong Kong, China ranks third, having secured 5 gold, 6 silver, and 1 bronze medal. The host Brunei team won 3 golds, 3 silvers and 1 bronze. In addition, Vietnam, Canada and the Philippines claimed the first gold medals of this World Junior Championships. The United States and France made a breakthrough in medals of this event today.

Overview of the Wushu Taolu Competitions

On the third day of the competition, a total of 17 gold medals were awarded in the routine events, including Girl’s Jianshu A, Boy’s Daoshu A, Girl’s Daoshu A, Boy’s Daoshu B, Girl’s Daoshu B, Boy’s Jianshu B, Girl’s Jianshu B, Boy’s Nandao A, Girl’s Nandao A, Boy’s Taijishan A, Girl’s Taijishan A, Boy’s Nandao B, Girl’s Nandao B, Boy’s Nandao C, Girl’s Nandao C, Boy’s Taijijian B, and Girl’s Taijijian B.

Girl’s Jianshu A

In this event, Lee Re Ann from the Singapore team won the gold medal with a score of 9.123, Kylie Suyoto KWOK from the Indonesia team won the silver medal with a score of 9.120, and Elaine WANG from the USA team won the bronze medal with a score of 9.100, which was the first medal for the USA team in this competition.

Boy’s Daoshu A

In this event, Walid LACHKAR from the Brunei team won the gold medal with a score of 9.186, Jie Ann WONG from the Malaysia team won the silver medal with a score of 9.183, and MAN LOK IP from the Macao, China team won the bronze medal with a score of 9.156.

Girl’s Daoshu A

In this event, WANG King Ham from the Hong Kong, China team won the gold medal with a score of 9.146, Kai Xin WONG from the Malaysia team won the silver medal with a score of 9.130, and Elena CHOW from the USA team won the bronze medal with a score of 9.070.

Boy’s Daoshu B

In this event, Ronn LEE from the Malaysia team won the gold medal with a score of 8.870, Jia Hao, Lucas TEO from the Singapore team won the silver medal with a score of 8.860, and Shih Hung LIN from the Chinese Taipei team won the bronze medal with a score of 8.833.

Girl’s Daoshu B

In this event, LIA MUN-LEI TANG-RUGGIERO from the Canada team won the gold medal with a score of 8.753, which was the first gold medal for the Canada team in this competition. Billie Karina THE from the Indonesia team won the silver medal with a score of 8.736, and Tara HOMAFAR from the Iran team won the bronze medal with a score of 8.170.

Boy’s Jianshu B

In this event, CHONG HEI LEI from the Macao, China team won the gold medal with a score of 8.756, Justin SHEN from the USA team won the silver medal with a score of 8.723, and Swann-Vinh FRANKINET from the France team won the bronze medal with a score of 8.340.

Girl’s Jianshu B

In this event, Ria NG from the Singapore team won the gold medal with a score of 8.783, Hsin Ling HU from the Chinese Taipei team won the silver medal with a score of 8.746, and Yurino IMAI from the Japan team tied for the bronze medal with the same score of 8.746.

Boy’s Nandao A

In this event, Lawrence Dean KURNIA from the Indonesia team won the gold medal with a score of 9.163, Guan Sheng SING from the Malaysia team won the silver medal with a score of 9.136, and Abel Wee Yuen LIM from the Brunei team won the bronze medal with a score of 9.126.

Girl’s Nandao A

In this event, Cao Yueyue from the Chinese team won the gold medal with a score of 9.233, Thalia Marvellina TANZIL from the Indonesia team won the silver medal with a score of 9.120, and UT LENG CHEUNG from the Macao, China team tied for the bronze medal with the same score of 9.120.

In this event, ALEXANDER GABRIEL DE LOS REYES from the Philippines team won the gold medal with a score of 9.150, which was the first gold medal for the Philippines team in this competition. Tin Lok LEE from the Hong Kong, China team won the silver medal with a score of 9.130.

Girl’s Taijishan A

In this event, Charlotte Leting NG from the Singapore team won the gold medal with a score of 9.136, Do PHUONG ANH from the Vietnam team won the silver medal with a score of 9.113, which was the first medal for the Vietnam team in this competition, and Hiyori MUNAKATA from the Japan team won the bronze medal with a score of 9.106.

Boy’s Nandao B

In this event, Wang Yixuan from the Chinese team won the gold medal with a score of 8.956, Ramtin SIAHMOSHTEHEI from the Iran team won the silver medal with a score of 8.856, and Yik Sun Nathaniel LAM from the Hong Kong, China team won the bronze medal with a score of 8.846.

Girl’s Nandao B

In this event, Agni Agustine DIMONIM from the Indonesia team won the gold medal with a score of 8.870, Wan Xin LIM from the Brunei team won the silver medal with a score of 8.850, and Sana CHEK from the Iran team won the bronze medal with a score of 8.816.

Boy’s Nandao C

In this event, Hideki HARTANTO from the Indonesia team won the gold medal with a score of 8.546, and Saif HAMDY SOBHY ABDELGHANY ELBARBARY from the Egypt team won the silver medal with a score of 8.516.

Girl’s Nandao C

In this event, Le NHAT HA from the Vietnam team won the gold medal with a score of 8.546, which was the first gold medal for the Vietnam team in this competition. TANG Ching Wan from the Hong Kong, China team won the silver medal with a score of 8.533, and Gwen Yen Xi LEE from the Brunei team won the bronze medal with a score of 8.523.

In this event, LO An Hang from the Hong Kong, China team won the gold medal with a score of 8.810, Kah Jun TANG from the Malaysia team won the silver medal with a score of 8.793, and Bilal HASSAN TAHSEEN MOHAMED from the Egypt team won the bronze medal with a score of 8.786.

Girl’s Taijijian B

In this event, Zhe Nin NG from the Singapore team won the gold medal with a score of 8.856, Hei Yu CHENG from the Hong Kong, China team won the silver medal with a score of 8.840, and Einn HAN from the Malaysia team won the bronze medal with a score of 8.790.

Boy’s 48kg - Children (Quarter-finals)

In this event, SHAURYA from the India team and Alireza ZAMANI from the Iran team both defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

Boy’s 56kg - Children (Semi-finals)


In this event, NAMNENUNG XAYYALAD from the Laos team and Ali REZAEI from the Iran team both defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

Boy's 48kg - Junior (Quarter-finals)

In this event, MARK JOHN LAZO from the Philippines team, Gong Huanran from the China team, Nguyen DANG KHOA from the Vietnam team, and ARYAN from the India team all defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

Boy's 52kg - Junior (Quarter-finals)

In this event, KU Tin Ho from the Hong Kong, China team, Amirhesam MOHAMMADI from the Iran team, HOI WANG from the Macao, China team, and Genea Elyos SILABAN from the Indonesia team all defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

In this event, TANISH NAGAR from the India team, Abdulkhamid ODILOV from the Uzbekistan team, Feng Junjie from the China team, and ADEM GHALKAOUI from the Tunisia team all defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

Boy's 60kg - Junior (Quarter-finals)

In this event, ANDY SHI from the Macao, China team, Guo Junbiao from the China team, Mokhnache HAMZA from Algeria, and ABHIJIT BURAGOHAIN from the Indonesia team all defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

Boy's 80kg - Junior (Semi-finals)

In this event, Seyyed Ali MIRI from the Iran team and Youssef KARIM ADEL TAHA from the Egypt team both defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

Boy's 42kg - Children (Semi-finals)

In this event, Yeraly TURSYNBAY from the Kazakhstan team and Mohamed REDAEL-SAYED MOHAMED from the Egypt team both defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

In this event, Amirreza SALAR from the Iran team and LEUNG Shun Yat from the Hong Kong, China team both defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

Girl’s 48kg - Junior Quarter-finals)

In this event, JOHANNA JEIEL BARBERO from the Philippines team, Adianna Rosa Aurelia RUTRI from the Indonesia team, KU WAI IN from the Macao, China team, and QIU Siu Tip Rachel from the Hong Kong, China team all defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

In this event, YOSR JABRI from the Tunisia team, Yekta ADIBI from the Iran team, Salma ABDELHAMID ABDELRAHAN ABDELHAMID from the Egypt team, and Luo Jiaqi from the China team all defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

Girl’s 56kg - Junior (Quarter-finals)

In this event, Saghar HOSSEINZADEHHASHTAL from the Iran team, Habiba RAMADAN ABDEL AZIZ EL-SAYED from the Egypt team, Yang Baijin from the China team, and Ta PHUONG ANH from the Vietnam team all defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

Girl’s 60kg - Junior (Quarter-finals)

In this event, Nguyen THI HUONG QUYNH from the Vietnam team, Ma Miaoqi from the China team, Diana RAHIMI from the Iran team, and DIVYANSHI from the India team all defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

Boy's 65kg - Junior (Quarter-finals)

In this event, Liu Jinghua from the China team, JAEMIN BAE from the Korea team, Avazbek MAKHAMADJONOV from the Uzbekistan team, and Abolfazl ASADI from the Iran team all defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.

Boy's 70kg - Junior (Quarter-finals)

In this event, Zhang Fengjian from the China team, Gomaa MANSOUR GOMAA SALEH from the Egypt team, Eziz MUHAMMEDOV from the Turkmenistan team, and Soroush HAJIMASHHADI from the Iran team all defeated their opponents and successfully advanced to the next round of their respective events.
